The June issue of Le Raconteur reported that the birth and death records from the Vital Records office formerly housed at Loyola Avenue have been moved to a building at Airline Drive and Causeway Boulevard. There is no acknowledgment yet of the current status and safety of those records with the upcoming hurricane season now upon us.
Le Raconteur reported on the loss of Louisiana records and provided an update on hurricane damaged records in the December 2005 and March 2006 issues respectively.
Le Raconteur is a quarterly publication ( March, June, September, and December) by Le Comité des Archives de la Louisiane.

Summer's ending but the activities are still rolling out!
Wow! I can't believe summer has almost flown by. The BRGHS group has done a great job of providing timely, helpful topics and speakers. If you missed Mr. Russell Jacquet's presentation on African American genealogy and DNA, you missed a good meeting. BRGHS members and visitors filled the room! We had a great time- good snacks, too!
You have another chance to get your genealogy skills updated on Saturday, September 16, at 10:00 a.m. when genealogy librarian, Cassie Fedrick, will show us what's new with the library databases- epscially Ancestry.Plus and Heritage Quest. She will also do a short introduction to blogging-pros and cons, how to get started, how to make it work for you. If you haven't been to our meetings in awhile, c'mon in! Visitors are always welcome.
