Celebrating Lousiana's West African Architecture

The Shotgun House and the People who Built Them

Did you know...
that the shotgun House has a Haitian connection?
that the name is a corruption of a Haitian word for home or house?

Join in a celebration of Louisiana's Haitian connections with Ms. Edna Jordan Smith at the Bluebonnet Regional library at 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd. from 1 to 3 p.m on Saturday, February 10th, 2007. There will be a discussion of the shotgun House's origins. Help to honor those family names with Haitian connections and a celebrate with a traditional toast--The Grand Libation!
Music will be provided by a Louisiana Zydeco band. Come tap your toes and raise a toast in this unique celebration of Louisiana history.
