The Readings in Literature and Culture (RELIC) series of discussions about World War 2 that began at Bluebonnet Library on August 27th will not meet on Wednesday, Sept. 10th. The library has cancelled all meeting room use and programs until next week. This is to allow the rooms to be available for recovery efforts after Hurricane Gustav.
The first meeting of the discussion for WW2 was a wonderful success. Thanks to all who came. Please check to see when the classes will be resumed. Right now it is a waiting game to see what IKE has in mind.
On a general note, the libraries of East Baton Rouge were all affected by power outages. Some libraries sustained wind and water damage. Many of our staff are still without power and have suffered damage in the storm. Be kind to your librarians this week. The Bluebonnet Genealogy Collection remained safe and dry.
The libraries are open for business and operating on modified hours because of curfew. Internet and computer services are available. Traffic may be difficult so plan extra time for your trip. If you have questions, please call your branch for information.
Happy Ancestral Hunting!
